Certification as a Building Block for EU Sustainability
Onsite Conference
Postponed due to a national strike in Brussels. New date will be announced soon.
You are warmly invited to a cross-sectoral event hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Heimat (BMLEH) , the Food Security Standard (FSS) and International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), bringing together policy and practice to discuss certification as a building block for implementing EU sustainability and human rights due diligence.
The Food Security Standard has developed a set of practical standards and tools to verify the implementation of human rights due diligence in agricultural value chains. These tools can be integrated into any existing recognised certification scheme. Through its practically oriented and user-friendly design, it is a straightforward solution to support companies in identifying risks, fulfilling their obligations, and reporting on human rights due diligence. The FSS is managed by Welthungerhilfe and Meo Carbon Solutions and supported by the German Ministry for Food and Agriculture via its project agency Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR).
The event will focus on certification as a building block for implementing EU sustainability and human rights due diligence, driving sustainable biomass production for food, mobility and material use. During the event practical approaches to regulatory compliance and support mechanisms for businesses by reducing complexity via certification as well as scalable solutions for sustainable supply chains and due diligence in the Global South will be discussed.
We are expecting a vivid stakeholder exchange between representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, Member State Ministry Representatives, Industry, Trade, Certification Schemes and NGOs.
