The System Update is mandatory for all ISCC System Users,
ISCC Auditors and cooperating Certification Bodies.
1. ISCC Webinar – System Updates Summary Q2 2025
Date: 8 July 2025, 14:00 – 15:00 (CEST, UTC +2)
We offer a regular webinar series to keep our System Users, ISCC Auditors and other stakeholders informed about all recent changes and developments.
2. ISCC EU
2.1 List of Material Eligible for ISCC EU Certification (“ISCC EU Material List”)
The ISCC EU material list has been updated. The newly added and revised materials are marked in bold.
The flow chart for determining whether a material meets the definition for waste and residues was amended according to ISCC EU System Document 202-5 “Waste and Residues”.
Table 1 of the material list now includes an additional column to indicate whether a raw material may qualify as feedstock under
- RefuelEU Aviation (indicated with “A”), and/or
- Fuel EU maritime (indicated with “M”).
However, please note that this information is provided for reference only. We do not guarantee its completeness, accuracy or timeliness. It is also not legally binding.
Additionally, the specification in table 1 on page 1 has been amended to reflect that
- A raw material must be recognised as waste or residue by a Member State of the fuel’s target market in order to be certified as such.
- A material marked with an asterisk (*) may still be certified as a (co-)product if it does not qualify as waste or residue.
2.2 Nitrogen Used as Input Material for Ammonia
Nitrogen which is used as an input material in the production of ammonia does not require certification under ISCC EU. This is because nitrogen is neither a renewable nor a waste material and does not contribute to the lower heating value of the fuel.
Regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations, please use database values for emission factors for nitrogen.
However, if nitrogen, that is generated on-site at an RFNBO ammonia plant, is being used for RFNBO ammonia production, and the air separation process is powered entirely by renewable electricity in accordance with DA 2023/1184, then a reduced emission factor according to DA 2023/1185 can be used.
For further guidance, please read chapter 3.1.1.2 of ISCC EU System Document 205-1 “RFNBO and RCF Greenhouse Gas Emissions“.
2.3 Certification of Co-processing Set-ups
The new ISCC Guidance Document for the Certification of Co-Processing (v2.0) has been applicable since 3 April 2025. From this date onward, audits of co-processing facilities must be conducted in alignment with this guidance document.
If a System User faces challenges in proving compliance with the new guidance document, we recommend that they prepare a clear and well-documented pathway to the auditor on how to reach compliance.
Once all required measurements and documentation have been provided, the auditor must approve the set-up. Following approval, the Proof of Sustainability (PoS) with the conversion and GHG values can be issued, similarly to when a System Users wants to use a new feedstock.
This approach avoids pausing or losing the certificate. However, it is important to note that sales must only proceed after approval and a potential extension of the certificate annex.
3. ISCC PLUS
3.1 List of Material Eligible for ISCC PLUS Certification (“ISCC PLUS Material List”)
The ISCC PLUS material list has been updated. The newly added and revised materials are marked in bold.
3.2 New Template for Sustainability Declarations under ISCC PLUS
The template for ISCC PLUS Sustainability Declarations (v3.6) has been updated to align with the updated material lists. Please find the templates in the client section of the ISCC website (login required).
4. ISCC System Support Centre Now Live
We have officially launched the ISCC System Support Centre, a new online portal where System Users, Certification Bodies, ISCC Auditors, and other partners can browse FAQs and submit inquiries to ISCC staff. The ISCC System Support Centre replaces the former contact form and FAQ section and allows for streamlined routing of inquiries based on topic.
To receive the quickest response, we encourage you to use the new contact form on the Support Centre site rather than sending an email. The new contact form is also available as a pop-up widget throughout the ISCC website.
Additionally, logged-in ISCC Auditors and representatives of Certification Bodies have access via the pop-up widget to the contact form and two dedicated forms for inquiries about the ISCC HUB and APS.
